I know, it's been a week of no blogs. And I usually try to walk that line between father-of-almost-two and old-honky-tonker … but recently it's been all kids here in Bottlecaps land.
I'll try to do better, but it won't change today … it's Foto Friday …
The boy and I went to Starrville last weekend, leaving ultra-pregnant Shannon at home to weather the indignities of massages and naps and lobster dinners all by herself. The trip to Starrville was beautiful, making it in a record 4.5 hours (I mean, that's "with the boy" record. I've made it 15 minutes faster on my own.)
The trip back? Six hours. Multiple stops. One complete meltdown (by the boy) (though I was close).
Bullworker, bought a wading pool for the boy, which he actually enjoyed. Here he is under the watchful eye of Grandma.
Pine trees and low humidity. Can't beat it. Though neither the boy nor I ever got acclimatized to the heat this summer, so both of us were sweaty monsters. One, sigh, a bit more than the other.
The one-eyed cat, froggy and the boy, ready to do some work.
Anyway, we ate barbecue, we shot guns (not the boy, he was swimming), we played dominoes (Bullworker and I whooped up on Julie and boyfriend Tony, who I finally got to meet). The boy wore Bullworker out by asking, repeatedly, for rides on the "tractor." It was a good time.
That's Bullworker up there with his "one-suspender" look. I told him if he's only going to wear one, he needs to cut off the other one and wear the one suspender bandolier-style. It would look even cooler if he could get a few cartridge holders sewn on …
Is this East Texas? How many vehicles can you count in the backyard? Don't forget the truck behind the white truck.
Have a good weekend, everybody.
