Here we are, fresh on Monday morning, ready for the big week.
There is a LOT going on this … what? It's not Monday? It's Tuesday? Hey, what the hell happened to Monday?
Oh yeah, I watched the Spurs on Sunday night and drank a lot of beer (including half a six-pack of that Shiner 101, which I think I actually like quite a bit) and Monday kinda came and went, sorta like Sunday did except with less beer. And less Spurs losing.
So my big week is 2/7th over and I haven't done anything besides acquire, inexplicably, an ingrown fingernail. This really pisses me off, because I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't trim it wrong. I didn't injure it. I didn't pry at it. I just woke up on Monday with a sore finger.
Shit, I hate getting old.
So, I'm excited about the NFL Draft. The new format, as much as I hate change, works out pretty good for me. You see, I'm not so desperate as to actually watch the NFL Draft, but I do like to know what happens. In previous years, this meant spending my anniversary weekend constantly glancing over at a nearby television to see what I missed. I didn't really watch it, but I didn't really not watch it.
Now it's going to happen while I'm at work on Thursday and Friday night. Which means that I can "work" and keep up with what's going on via computer. And if anything big happens, I have the "live alert" from all the sports desk guys at the other end of the room saying "oooooooohhhhhhh!" all at once.
I realize there's still draft on Saturday, but really, once we get past the first few rounds, I can catch up with the rest in the Sunday paper.
My big eBay poster auction is ending in a few hours, and it looks like I'm gonna sell 2 posters for sure, maybe 4. I know you don't care, but this will pay for me to buy another Willie Nelson Fourth of July Picnic poster, so I'm excited. Anyway, considering that it was on last year's list of goals to actually list these posters on eBay, I'm just excited I managed to do that.
We are in the midst of potty training for the boy. My hope that he would immediately catch on and magically become trained in a weekend was, sadly, not realized. It's gonna be a good while of earnestly discussing the baser facts of life with the boy. I will spare you the details and report back with victory. Soon I hope.
"Crazy Heart" comes out on DVD today. I had hoped to see it in the theaters. But I will see it on DVD soon. I can't think of the last time I had the "Damn, I really got to see this movie" feeling when it wasn't also mixed with the "Damn, I might be wrong" feeling.
There's more going on this week, of course. But we'll get to that soon enough.
