Well, this was the blog where I was going to say, "I tried my sleep apnea machine last night and it worked miracles! I lost 5 pounds as I slept, woke up with the strength of 20 men and I just got done running my first marathon!"
But it didn't work out that way. I've been so hammered by allergies over the past week, that everything has gone awry. Last night, I put on my gear and ALMOST nodded off, getting more and more comfortable with the process as I went. But then my nose got so stuffed up that I had to bail out (you have to breathe through your nose for the machine to work).
Then, they told me it'd probably take a week or so to get used to it. So I'm gonna keep trying. My first goal is to fall asleep with it on.
For those of you who are keeping score: They told me that I had a mild case of sleep apnea — I mean, insofar as something that causes you to stop breathing while you sleep can be mild — and that if I lose enough weight, it will probably go away.
Also, they mentioned that having sleep apnea makes it pretty near impossible to lose weight. Because, as you sleep, your body, instead of metabolizing fat and doing other important functions, is basically concentrating on making sure you breathe. So if I can get this machine working for me, I can A) breathe, B) not snore, C) lose weight. It's a good incentive to keep trying.
So, anyway, no entertaining rants today. No Foto Friday, I'm sorry. (And boy, have my page views just fallen off the face of the Earth the past few days. Whatever I said, I'm sorry, dude.) Hopefully we'll be back next week with no sinus congestion and more energy.
Have a groovy weekend, everybody.
